On February 26 Mr. Paul Teesalu, Deputy Foreign Minister of Estonia, addressed the Geneva Conference on Disarmament (CD). The speech was delivered during the High-Level segment of the Conference, which in 2019 celebrates 40 years from its establishment, and focused on the importance multilateralism and rules based international security order.
The Geneva based Conference on Disarmament (CD) is the single multilateral forum of the UN to negotiate disarmament affairs. Among others, the CD has established the Biological and Toxin Weapons Convention (BTWC), the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC) and the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty (CTBT). Estonia participates in CD’s work as a non-member state since 2000 and has applied for a full membership since 2001.
