Estonia becomes Associate Member of CERN

Geneva, 1st February 2021

Estonia has become an Associate Member of the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) as the Ambassador of Estonia to the United Nations and other International Organisations in Geneva, HE Katrin Saarsalu-Layachi, handed over the diplomatic note to CERN´s Director General, Dr. Fabiola Gianotti.

Estonia and CERN have enjoyed good collaboration since 1996 and becoming an Associate Member will allow this cooperation to further intensify and expand. Estonia hopes to actively contribute to CERN´s scientific projects, as well as to foster the Research & Development cooperation between the Estonian private sector and CERN. Estonia will achieve full member status in 2-5 years.
