Mr. President,
Estonia aligns itself with the EU Statement.
The 9th September airstrikes by Israel against the State of Qatar are unacceptable.
Estonia underlines the primacy and universality of international law. It applies equally in all situations, without exception. We are concerned by the alarming trend of its gradual erosion, which undermines not only the rules-based international order but also the security of all nations.
Estonia expresses its full support and solidarity with the State of Qatar. We condemn breaches of sovereignty and territorial integrity in every circumstance. In this context, let me recall that last week, the Russian Federation violated the airspace of Poland — another reminder that the principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity must be defended consistently, everywhere.
Estonia stands firmly for accountability in cases of violations of international law. There can be no selective application of justice; perpetrators must be held responsible wherever and whenever violations occur.
To conclude, respect for international law and principles enshrined in the UN Charter are essential in assuring peace, stability and uphold Human Rights.
