On 21 May, the Head of the Public Health Department of the Ministry of Social Affairs of Estonia, Ms Heli Laarmann, participated in a technical briefing on universal health coverage. Her intervention focussed on Estonia’s experiences how to develop digital solutions in a way that does not increase health inequalities. The briefing took place during the 72nd World Health Assembly in Geneva and included panellists from Columbia, Estonia, India, Kenya and the Philippines.
On 24 May, the Head of the Health System Development Department of the Ministry of Social Affairs of Estonia, Mr Agris Koppel, participated in a side event of the 72nd World Health Assembly, organised by the Kingdom of Bahrain. The side event focused on the role of primary healthcare in achieving sustainable universal health coverage. Mr Koppel talked about integrated primary health care centres and services in Estonia. The side event included panellists from Bahrain, Estonia, Oman and Turkey and was moderated by Dr Peter Salama, the WHO Executive Director on Universal Health Coverage.
