Estonian Ambassador paid a courtesy call to the President of the ICRC

On 31 October Estonian Ambassador Katrin Saarsalu-Layachi met with the President of the ICRC Peter Maurer. Different aspects of the cooperation between Estonia and ICRC were discussed. President Maurer appreciated Estonia`s steady contributions to the organization and strong support to the IHL. The ICRC expect to expand their cooperation with Estonia in the field of new technologies and AI. Data protection is of high importance to the organization in the context of restoring family links and Estonia`s experience in the field of data management is very valuable. President Maurer expressed ICRC`s readiness to cooperate closely with Estonia during our tenure in the UN Security Council.  Also the upcoming ICRC and IFRC International Conference on December 9 to 12 was discussed.
