On the occasion ofthe IV Global Conference on the Sustained Eradication of Child Labour, Estoniawould like to reiterate its commitment to the fight against forced labour andchild labour. It is important to strengthen the actions and take the next stepsin order to eradicate child labour and provide proper education and decent workfor young people all over the world.

With that, Estonia fully aligns itself with thepledges made by the European Union, and commits itself further to the followingnational pledges:

TheProtocol of 2014 to the ILO Forced Labour Convention enters into force forEstonia on November 24, this year. With this, Estonia expresses its fullsupport to the fight against forced labour and child labour and commits toeffective implementation of the Protocol.

Estoniareaffirms its commitment to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development’starget to end child labour in all its forms by 2025. For this purpose, Estoniaensures that its humanitarian programming takes into account those vulnerableto forced labour, especially children, and takes necessary steps to enhancecooperation with partner countries.

Aseducation is essential in tackling child labour, Estonia reiterates itscommitment to engage in development cooperation programmes, in order to enableimplementing the rights of the child, to have access to quality and inclusiveeducation.
